Veza Drainage Ltd is looking for an experienced Digger Operator who can also take a leadership role on site. You will be operating machines from 5–30 tonne, including GPS-equipped excavators, while helping oversee day-to-day site activities and supporting a small crew. Key Duties Operate diggers (5T–30T) on civil and earthworks projects Carry out bulk earthworks, trenching, trimming, backfilling and site preparation Operate and manage GPS machine control systems Oversee daily site operations and monitor progress Lead, support and coordinate a small team on site Communicate with supervisors, subcontractors and truck drivers to keep work moving Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard Perform daily machine checks and basic maintenance Requirements Proven New Zealand experience on large earthworks and civil construction sites Strong digger operating skills across 5–30 tonne machines Confident using GPS machine control Previous experience leading a crew or supervising site tasks (preferred) Ability to read plans, work to levels and manage workflow on site Reliable, safety-focused and able to communicate well What We Offer Competitive hourly rates based on experience Leadership opportunities within a growing team Modern, well-maintained machinery Supportive work environment Training and development opportunities If you are a self-starter who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a team, we want to hear from you!
