By designing and delivering effective training programmes, you’ll ensure our people have the skills, confidence, and support they need to work safely and thrive. Your work will directly contribute to protecting our people, which in turn enables us to deliver outstanding services to the community. Key responsibilities include: Developing and implementing training plans across teams and projects. Delivering and coordinating training courses. Supporting apprenticeships and short course programmes. Coaching and mentoring leaders and team members. Managing the Health & Safety training budget effectively. About You You’ll bring: NZQA Assessor unit standards and 5+ years’ experience (required). Strong experience in training programme development. Proven coaching and mentoring skills. Excellent communication and relationship management. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching is desirable. Safe and reliable water supply systems and effective wastewater and stormwater disposal networks are something that are easily taken for granted — whether it’s turning on the tap for a cup of tea, enjoying a hot shower, or flushing the loo. Behind the scenes, it takes dedicated people to make that happen. We’re looking for a practical, hands-on Operations Technician who’s passionate about making a difference in their community by helping deliver safe and reliable waters services across our district. About this role: In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for responding to service requests related to Waters services, ensuring all actions meet policy, legislative, and compliance requirements. You'll manage contractors, consultants, and staff from time to time, while also keeping an eye on budgets and project delivery within the Water Services space. A key part of your role will involve planning and overseeing data collection programmes, monitoring network performance, and using that data to help guide decision-making. You’ll provide technical advice and direction to maintenance teams, supervise worksites for quality and health and safety, and monitor compliance with drinking water standards and resource consents. You’ll also support water loss detection and pressure management programmes, carry out asset condition assessments, respond to pollution incidents, and play a key role in emergency and Civil Defence responses. From time to time, you may also deliver minor works and capital upgrades, ensuring everything is delivered on time, on budget, and to standard. Skills and experience: To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have a tertiary qualification in engineering or a construction-related field, or be actively working towards one. Alternatively, at least five years’ experience in water services operations or construction will be considered. A solid understanding of network systems, practical problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach will be key to thriving in this position. Apply now! This is a key leadership role that ensures our fleet is safe, efficient, compliant, and aligned with Council’s goals for service delivery and investment. As Fleet Portfolio Lead, you will be responsible for lifecycle planning, utilisation, and renewal of fleet assets, while overseeing risk, compliance, and procurement processes. You will provide expert advice and reporting to senior leadership, manage a fleet budget, and mentor the Fleet Coordinator.
