Chainsaw Operator

We are looking for a motivated Chainsaw Operator to join our thinning crew. This role involves felling approximately 10m tall trees and is not for the faint-hearted. We need someone who can handle the physical demands of the job and contribute to a high-performing team. We have been delivering New Zealand pork to Kiwis for over 40 years and are the country’s leading pork specialist. With over 150 staff operating from 4 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability of the NZ pig industry, through continual investment, innovative processing and products that provide fresh, high quality NZ pork products to New Zealanders. Our Timaru production facility is New Zealand’s largest pork specialist abattoir and butchery operation. Our dedicated team of over 65 staff process around 4,000 pigs per week. We are looking for a Yards Stockperson to join our Yards team. The team ensure the safe, humane and accurate moving of livestock from trucks to stunners, and document numbers and details electronically. To be successful in this role you will: • High animal welfare standards and a keen eye for noting the health of animals when receiving. • Have great attention to detail and accuracy with paperwork and numbers. • Need to be reliable and punctual. • Need to be physically fit due the physicality of the role. • A forklift licence will be advantageous. Days start at 5:00am when Receiving and 5:30am for other parts of the role. 8-10 hour shifts are typical. The working week is Monday to Friday on a 4-day rotating roster, and a short Sunday starting around midday worked on rotation. Finish times vary depending on production and processing times.
