Mixed Arable Role About Rathgen farms Rathgen Farms is a family-owned business located 15mins south of Timaru inland from St Andrews. Consisting of a mixed arable operation growing a range of grain and seed, Dairy farm and seed cleaning operation. Role Key Responsibilities Machinery operation - Use of multiple different vehicles and implements, overseeing paperwork completion of (logbooks , VCL) booking services and maintenance. Crop production - liaising with contracted merchant agronomists. Chemical spraying and application of fertilizer, planting, harvesting ,making bailage and silage. Receival, delivery and storage of a range of agricultural products. Fencing – Installing , maintaining and ensuring electric fencing is preforming correctly. Irrigation – Coordination of Klines, hard hose and pivots. Stock - Involvement with drafting and stock movement. Implementation and understanding of industry grazing practices and feed utilization. What We’re Looking For • Self-motivated , roll up sleeves, on tools work ethics. • Practical hands-on experience in the wider arable industry. • Experienced and licenced in operating a range of farm machinery. • Leadership skills and the ability to direct, support, assist and motivate a team when required. • Positive, solutions-focused, can-do attitude with good time management. • Solid communication skills, accurate record keeping and attention to detail. • Committed to working safely and efficiently, understanding of health and safety expectations. • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions. • Skilled in performing basic repairs and maintenance. • Be flexible with work hours due to sessional requirements. • Open to learning new skills and implying them. • Adaptable and Content to work alone and within a team. • Technical proficiency and sound industry knowledge (Beneficial) • Environmental and compliance awareness (Beneficial) What We Offer • Competitive salary (level of experience) • 4WD vehicle for work use. • On-site accommodation available for this role.
