Are you a reliable and trustworthy digger operator looking for a fantastic opportunity with a well-established demolition company in Auckland. We have an immediate need for an experienced operator to join our team which focuses on residential demolitions/small commercial/govt works across Auckland and further afield.
This would suit someone whos done the groundwork and is looking to take the next step up in their career.
Key Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Operating various sizes of excavators (1-20T]) safely and efficiently.
- Performing tasks including mechanical deconstruction, demolition, and site clearance works.
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on machinery, reporting any faults promptly.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and site-specific procedures.
- Working effectively as part of a team and communicating clearly with site supervisors and other members/stakeholders on site.
- Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within project timelines.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area around the machinery.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to assist with maintenance, clean-up and anything else that requires attention as directed by the Site Supervisor or Manager
- Ability to identify potential hazards in and around the work area
- Ideally you will be physically fit and be able to perform tasks such as salvaging materials, manual deconstruction as required.
We like to give everyone a chance, however criminal convictions may hinder you from working on some sites where police vetting is required.
Type of Work and Minimum Guaranteed Hours:
Once a trail period has been satisfied, this is a full-time salary position.
We guarantee a minimum of 40 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday. Rarely, weekend work may be required, with prior notice . We pay for 40 hrs, even if we work less.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $35-45 per hour, depending on your skills, experience, and relevant qualifications.
Minimum Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience operating excavators
- Demonstrated ability to operate excavators of various sizes and attachments (e.g., buckets, augers, breakers).
- A strong understanding of machine operation safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret basic site plans and scopes of works
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Full drivers license and prefer someone with at least a Class 2/RTW endorsement. Having experience with tipper trucks is ideal.
We would like someone who is confident to make decisions efficiently and is keen to help others and learn themselves including business operations outside of general duties.
