Description

Current Status: In Transit The BYD Shark 6 has taken New Zealand roads by storm since its introduction in early 2025, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about ute releases in years. Now, the new Shark 6 Performance raises the bar even higher, delivering more power, more capability, and cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology in one impressive package. At the heart of the Shark 6 Performance is a more powerful 2.0lt turbocharged engine paired with BYD's advanced hybrid system, producing an impressive combined 350kW and 700Nm. The result is effortless acceleration, outstanding performance, and smooth, refined driving both on and off the road. With an EV driving range of up to 80km (WLTP), this plug-in hybrid ute allows you to handle daily commutes on electric power alone, while still having the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer trips. Built to handle serious work as well as weekend adventures, the Shark 6 Performance offers an impressive 3,500kg braked towing capacity*, a significant step up over the Shark 6 Premium model. Whether you're towing a boat to the bach, hauling a trailer for work, or heading away with a caravan, this increased capability gives you the confidence and versatility to take on bigger loads with ease. The added power from the upgraded drivetrain ensures strong, stable towing performance across a variety of conditions. Combining rugged ute practicality with next-generation hybrid technology, the 2026 BYD Shark 6 Performance delivers power, innovation, and versatility in one seriously impressive package. *NOTE: TOWING ABOVE 2,500KG REQUIRES CLASS 2 LICENCE DUE TO COMBINED WEIGHT.
