Position: Hammerhand – Wellington Region
Pay Rate: $25–$27 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time, Ongoing Work
About the Opportunity We are looking for skilled and reliable Hammerhands to support a variety of upcoming residential and commercial projects across Wellington. Our clients are established construction firms known for quality builds—from structural work and formwork to high-end fit-outs.
As part of the Tech 5 team, you’ll play a vital role in the construction process, assisting qualified carpenters, preparing materials, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects in a safe and efficient manner.
Role Overview You will work alongside experienced site teams to support carpentry tasks including formwork, framing, and site prep. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with proven construction experience who takes pride in quality workmanship and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up and stripping formwork for foundations, walls, and slabs
- Support framing, cladding, and structural timber work
- Cut, measure, and carry materials such as timber, plywood, and reinforcing
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Keep work areas clean and free from hazards
- Follow directions from supervisors and contribute to smooth site operations
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, including correct PPE use and hazard reporting
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a Hammerhand on residential or commercial builds
- Competency using power tools, hand tools, and site equipment
- Own basic tools and reliable transport
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be currently residing in NZ with either NZ citizenship or a valid open work visa
