Opportunity to challenge the status quo * Full time hours with long term career development * Supportive, engaged team within a complex manufacturing environment * Competitive salary and strong professional growth opportunities About the Role We are seeking a Materials Planner to join our Christchurch manufacturing team based at our Hornby site. This position is full-time hours however please note it will be on a fixed term basis until late June (this is an estimation).The hours will be Monday - Friday day shifts and you will be reporting to the Materials Planning Manager - ANZ. You will play a critical role in ensuring material availability, inventory optimisation, and seamless support for production operations. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, and cross-functional teams to meet business needs while contributing to a culture of manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement. This is a dynamic environment where change is embraced and challenging the status quo is encouraged. Please note this is a complex manufacturing environment and therefore your days can be unpredictable. Duties will include: * Developing materials plans aligned with monthly and weekly production schedules * Analysing and validating MRP data to ensure accurate and timely purchasing of all BOM items * Purchasing direct materials to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements * Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities through CI initiatives and working capital optimisation * Monitoring supplier performance across quality, service, and delivery metrics * Coordinating direct materials with logistics, 3PL providers, and freight forwarding partners * Managing order amendments, cancellations, substitutions, and pricing data maintenance * Reporting monthly on materials planning performance, including inventory value, slow-moving stock, supplier performance, and schedule misses * Coordinating MPI and transitional facility requirements for imported materials and ensuring compliance with all documentation and audit processes Key Requirements & Responsibilities * Experience in purchasing or planning, ideally within a manufacturing environment * A strong background in inventory management * Must be able to work independently and have strong attention to detail * Strong attention to detail and a results-driven approach * Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business * Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills * Comfortable with change and committed to continuous improvement * Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities * Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel * Ability to manage ambiguity and work effectively in a fast-paced environment * B2B exposure and experience working with suppliers About the Company We are a global manufacturer of flexible packaging for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical and personal care industries.
