OneStaff is currently seeking experienced and reliable Foundry Workers to join our client’s growing manufacturing team in the Canterbury region. This is a full-time permanent position with guaranteed minimum hours, offering the opportunity to work in a busy metal casting and foundry environment producing high-quality metal components for industrial applications. We are looking for motivated individuals with strong hands-on experience in metal casting operations, a solid work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety. The ability to work in high-temperature foundry conditions and perform physically demanding tasks is essential.   Key Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to:• Carry out mould and core formation, including floor moulding and track moulding • Prepare sand moulds by placing patterns and compacting moulding materials • Position and secure cores accurately within moulds prior to casting • Operate furnaces to melt and maintain metal at required casting temperatures • Perform safe pouring of molten metal into prepared moulds according to procedures • Monitor furnace conditions and ensure correct temperature control during casting operations • Conduct knock-out operations to remove sand moulds after metal solidification • Perform fettling tasks including trimming, grinding, and removal of excess metal • Carry out water blasting and cleaning processes to refine and finish cast products • Inspect castings for defects such as surface porosity, cracks, and incomplete filling • Repair minor defects to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications • Operate foundry machinery including furnaces, bandsaws, and powered tools • Use measurement tools to check dimensions and ensure product accuracy • Follow strict workplace health and safety procedures when handling molten metal and heavy equipment • Work in high-temperature conditions ranging from approximately 700°C to 1600°C   Pay and Hours • Pay rate between $33.00 and $41.00 per hour depending on experience • Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week • Full-time permanent employment Skills and Experience RequiredApplicants must have:• A minimum of 2.5 years’ relevant foundry or metal casting experience, OR • A relevant trade qualification in metal casting or equivalent   Successful applicants will also demonstrate: • Strong practical experience in metal casting and foundry operations • Ability to work in high-temperature industrial environments • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety procedures • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain product quality standards • Reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to work as part of a team • Good communication and time management skills LocationAll work will be based within the Canterbury region, New Zealand, including Christchurch and surrounding industrial and manufacturing sites as required.
