We're on the hunt for an experienced Cafe Chef / Prep Chef to join our team at The Custodian Cafe. We’re a vibrant community hub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We serve everything from morning coffee and breakfast to tasty bites and meals for locals, families, and club members.
As our Cafe Chef/Prep Chef, you’ll play a key role in delivering great food that keeps our regulars coming back. This is a hands-on position focused on preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards in a busy cafe environment. You will move between our café kitchen, and supporting our main kitchen, so adaptability is key.
This role is approximately 35 hours per week, with the potential for extra hours on offer as required.
'What we're looking for'
*Must be available weekends and be an early riser
*Previous experience as a chef or prep chef in a cafe, restaurant, or similar fast-paced environment
*Strong knowledge of breakfast/brunch and cafe menu items
*Reliable, energetic, and able to work well under pressure and autonomously
*A positive team player with great attention to detail
'Key Responsibilities'
*Preparing and cooking a range of cafe-style dishes, including breakfast, brunch, lunches, and snacks
*Food prep, portioning, and maintaining fresh stock levels
*Following recipes and menu specifications
*Ensuring excellent food presentation, quality, and consistency
*Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness (HACCP practices)
*Working collaboratively across two kitchen teams and our front-of-house team
