




Porirua libraries offer a range of library services, collections, leisure activities and spaces to the residents of Porirua City. Our libraries are welcoming, vibrant and varied workplaces with a strong community focus. Our library staff support literacy, and promote knowledge, information gathering, research and study, and our resources include Maori, Pacific and heritage and genealogy collections. All about the role The library client services team offers a range of services to the residents of Porirua City. This role participates in the life of the community by providing stellar customer service daily. This busy role is based in our Porirua Library in our Client Services team, and will work from Tuesday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, and Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm (35 hours per week in total). You will be responsible for: * delivering customer focused, innovative and effective library services at Porirua Library * creating a welcoming and stimulating environment for visitors to the library * general front desk duties such as answering customer queries, issuing and returning items; assisting with public use computers, printing and scanning documents. * general collection maintenance duties, for example shelving items, minor book repairs, processing of new material * relieving branch staff as required. Porirua library has branches in Titahi Bay, Cannons Creek, Whitby and Pukerua Bay. * supporting housebound services, including delivery of stock to households All about you It would be fabulous if you are interested in a career in libraries, and have some experience in a library or customer service environment. You'll be driven to improve the quality of services offered by Porirua Library. Customer service and problem solving are your passion. You'll need to show us that you: * have excellent customer service at the heart of everything you do * are organised, reliable, punctual and committed to working as part of a team * are methodical and conscientious in your approach to work * have confidence with a range of digital technology and equipment * have an interest in community engagement/outreach work * have a reasonable level of fitness as the role requires lifting crates of books * have a passion for reading across a range of genres * hold a current NZ driver license (minimum of restricted) What you need to do now Come and join our busy and engaged Libraries team and be part of our welcoming and engaging environment.
