This hands-on role is varied and includes: *Supporting the smooth running of lodge activities and events. *Assisting with hosting school and community groups. *Helping maintain facilities and grounds. *Contributing to the welcoming, safe, and well-organised environment that Borland Lodge is known for. This is a part-time, salaried role (up to 24 hours per week), and the successful applicant is expected to be available to live onsite during those hours. About Us AB Lime is a diverse and innovative company with more than 100 years of history. From one site, we manage four unique operations: Southland’s largest limestone quarry, a Blending Plant, the regional landfill, and a 950-cow dairy farm. Located in a beautiful rural setting near the friendly town of Winton, we have built an efficient and productive team, and we are looking to grow it. About the Role We are seeking a reliable and motivated Blending Plant Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for blending fertilisers, lime, and seed products, operating heavy machinery, and maintaining a safe and tidy work environment. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate product mixing and efficient plant operations. Experience in blending or machinery operation is a bonus, but not essential. We are prepared to provide training to the right person who demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): • Operate blending equipment to produce fertiliser, lime, and seed mixes. • Conduct routine maintenance and housekeeping of the plant and surrounding areas. • Operate heavy machinery including front-end loaders and forklifts. • Monitor and report stock levels of phosphate, trace elements, and seed. • Maintain accurate labelling and identification of stored products. • Communicate effectively with the Blending Supervisor and wider team. • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures. What You Will Bring: • Commitment to health and safety practices. • Initiative and a proactive approach to work. • Good physical fitness and attention to detail. • Class 1 and Class 2 driver’s licences (preferred). • Wheels, tracks, and rollers endorsements, and forklift certification (advantageous). • Experience operating heavy machinery (preferred). • Strong communication and teamwork skills. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and suitably qualified Environmental Field Officer to join our team. This role is central to our environmental compliance and sustainability efforts, with a strong focus on field monitoring, data analysis, report writing, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities • Collect and analyse environmental data from field sources including waterways, gas bores, and climate stations. • Monitor and report on consent compliance across landfill, effluent, sediment, water quality and gas systems. • Support wetland restoration and planting programmes. • Lead community liaison efforts and respond to environmental complaints. • Review and update environmental management plans and monitoring methodologies. • Facilitate independent environmental reviews and site inspections. • Assess new waste streams and advise on environmental risks. • Optimise landfill gas collection and destruction systems. • Promote AB Lime’s environmental initiatives through school visits, field days, and presentations. What We’re Looking For • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Resource Management, or Environmental Sciences (required under consent conditions). • Minimum 3+ years in a similar role (5+ years preferred). • Strong analytical and reporting skills. • Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and GIS tools. • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. • A proactive attitude and ability to work independently. Experience in quarrying or mining is a bonus, but not essential — we are ready to invest in training the right person with a positive attitude. You will learn to operate our plant, equipment, and machinery safely and efficiently. Please note: this role includes working night shift for approximately six months of the year, depending on seasonal demand for lime.
