* Ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? * Influence the future of this team and their critical mahi. * Invercargill Prison, Monday to Friday 7am - 3pm, Permanent Position Mo te tunga | About the role Invercargill Prison is seeking a capable and compassionate leader to oversee operations within Prison Industries, including Kitchen, Laundry, Grounds Horticulture and Painting. This role is essential in delivering high-quality services while supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of the men in our care. We are looking for someone with a strong background in catering, sound financial understanding, and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen environment, including planning and scheduling work, allocating tasks, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. You will also be expected to foster a respectful and inclusive team culture, while confidently managing a range of personalities and supporting staff development. Strong organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work with spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel to manage budgets, stock control, and reporting. You will be accountable for the smooth running of kitchen operations and will play a key role in building relationships with commercial partners and overseeing training and qualifications for the men in prison. This role contributes directly to Ara Poutama Aotearoa's Hokai Rangi Strategy by creating meaningful engagement and supporting positive outcomes for both staff and the men in prison. Please note, as this is a custodial role you will be required to go to our National Learning Centre in Upper Hutt for five weeks of training. The Southland Fish and Game Council is looking to appoint a Senior Fish & Game Officer to lead our Te Anau field base and key projects across Northern Southland and Fiordland. Southland Fish and Game Council is a not-for-profit agency responsible for the management of sports fish (trout and salmon) and game birds (primarily waterfowl) and their habitats, in the recreational interests of anglers and hunters. We have been doing that for over 150 years. The primary purpose of this role will be to: • Coordinate the Council's monitoring programmes for sports fish, game birds and habitat in the Te Anau and Northern Southland areas. • Provide leadership and management to staff in the Te Anau office while implementing projects. • Advocating for sports fish and game bird habitat through catchment groups, public meetings, media and to licence holders. • Support or lead other workstreams such as lake and river compliance, wetland development and hunter and angler liaison. The role has an enviable balance of field and office and being primarily based in Te Anau it will compliment a wonderful lifestyle, in a fantastic growing community. Ideally, you will be someone who: • Is an enthusiastic angler and/or game bird hunter, with a strong interest in wildlife management/ecology. • Has proven leadership & experience in operations & project management or held supervisory positions. • Has a relevant degree, ideally post-graduate in ecological or biological sciences. • Has excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate and work with all types of people. • Is an experienced boat skipper or has a strong interest in recreational boating. Executing pre-shift and post-shift tasks, including thorough checks of observatory assets and systems. Keeping continuous communication with the control room throughout the shift. Upholding company protocols, including safe driving practices and handling public interactions with professionalism. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proven experience operating vehicles in a professional capacity. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reporting data. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with the public and team members. Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of traffic laws and regulations in New Zealand.
