Access to training, mentoring, and professional development. About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our Christchurch-based team. This permanent role will support the planning, design, and delivery of a range of civil infrastructure projects across the Canterbury region, including road renewal, drainage, earthworks and minor structures. You will work closely with project managers, construction crews, designers and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification. Key Responsibilities * Plan, programme and manage civil engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, specifications and relevant standards. * Coordinate on-site construction activities, provide technical guidance to contractors and site teams, and ensure quality control and verification of works. * Undertake site inspections, audits and testing to confirm conformance to design, health and safety and environmental requirements. * Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement. * Engage proactively with clients, stakeholders, statutory authorities and the public to maintain strong working relationships and manage expectations. * Prepare reports, tender documentation and variations, and support contract administration activities including progress claims and final accounts. Skills & Experience * Degree in Civil Engineering. * Proven experience within roading, subdivision, utilities or earthworks projects. * Sound technical knowledge of NZ design standards, specifications and consenting processes. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams, subcontractors, clients and stakeholders. * Practical approach to problem solving, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. * Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential.
