We're looking for a compassionate, capable Dental Assistant to join our friendly and professional team at Oranga Niho, part of Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH). This is a part-time permanent role, working 16 hours per week across two days. About Us TToH is a Ngāti Kahungunu mandated, kaupapa Māori values-based health and social services organisation. For over 40 years, we've been walking alongside whānau across Te Matau a Māui supporting their wellbeing through health, social, education, and community development services. Oranga Niho is our Foundation-accredited dental service, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to over 1,500 enrolled patients, with a strong focus on high-needs whānau. Whether you're already familiar with kaupapa Māori approaches or are keen to learn more about working in a culturally grounded environment, we welcome your interest and offer a supportive space to grow. In this role, you will: * Support and communicate with clinicians and whānau during dental procedures * Greet patients, review medical histories, and answer questions * Prepare and maintain dental operatories before and after procedures * Sterilise instruments and equipment to high infection control standards * Enter accurate data into our management systems What we're looking for: * Experience as a Dental Assistant (NZDA qualification preferred) * A warm, professional manner and strong communication skills * A positive, can-do attitude and a team player mindset * Strong organisational and time management skills * A full driver's licence * First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) * An understanding of tikanga Māori or a genuine interest in learning What we offer: * A supportive, inclusive team environment * Family-friendly hours – just two days per week * Opportunities to grow your cultural knowledge and professional skills through proximity * A chance to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of our community Ready to join us?
