About the Role: At Northpower, we're looking for an experienced Foreman / Team Leader to take charge of field teams,guide safe and efficient work practices, and help deliver critical electrical infrastructure projects across our network. This role is ideal for someone who's confident coordinating people, plant, and projects and isn't afraid to get stuck in and provide hands-on support when needed. Responsibilities: As a Foreman / Team Leader, you'll be responsible for making sure work is planned, executed, and delivered to a high standard safely, efficiently, and without rework. You'll be: -Leading and supporting a team in the field to complete jobs to spec -Scoping and planning tasks, ensuring the right people, plant, and materials are in place -Performing quality checks and compliance audits (WTC assessments, toolbox checks, reports) -Making sure all gear and equipment is compliant and in top condition -Supporting job pricing, resource assignment, and technical drawing interpretation -Providing clear direction and communication to your team -Coaching your team on performance, development, and safety Experience: You're someone who leads by example, keeps a cool head, and knows how to balance people leadership with technical know-how. Join Northpower's Transmission team and take charge of delivering nationally significant infrastructure projects that keep the lights on across Aotearoa.This is your opportunity to lead complex HV substation projects from concept to completion safely, on time, and on budget while working with a high-performing, tight-knit team that values quality, integrity, and continuous improvement. What You'll Be Doing: Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager Transmission Stations, you'll manage substation construction and upgrade projects throughout the full lifecycle. From estimating and planning to execution and closeout, you'll be at the centre of delivery. You'll collaborate with field managers, schedulers, outage planners, designers, customers, suppliers, and contractors — keeping everyone aligned and projects moving forward. Your leadership will ensure technical excellence, commercial success, and compliance with Transpower and Northpower standards. Your week might include: -Leading end-to-end delivery of HV substation projects -Planning and managing resources to hit key milestones -Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams -Managing project financials, variations, and reporting -Conducting project handovers, site audits, and safety checks -Supporting estimation and pricing on new opportunities -Driving continuous improvement across delivery processes -Ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards Performance & Accountability You'll be expected to: -Lead safety within your team, supported by H&S reps and systems -Monitor KPIs including Delivery (>95%), Responsiveness, Quality, and YTL -Run monthly KPI reports and follow up on failures with relevant PMs -Attend monthly and quarterly performance meetings with stakeholders -Review WIP and financials on the 2nd working day of each month -Contribute to forecasting, aged WIP tracking, and forward commitments -Use tools like Maximo, CAT, and Transpower BI for reporting and analysis What We're Looking For: We're after a proactive self-starter with a solid electrical background ideally in the transmission or distribution sector. You'll bring: -Three plus years of project management experience in HV or electrical environments -A qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience -Familiarity with HV systems, network standards, and NZ safety regulations -Strong commercial and contract management skills -Confidence using MS Project, Excel, Word, and job costing tools -Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills -A full Class 1 driver's licence -Bonus if you have experience using PRINCE2® or PMP® certification and knowledge of NZQA 18275/12300 units (or equivalent) About us: Northpower is one of the largest multi-utility contractors in New Zealand, servicing the needs of clients in transmission, distribution, generation, fibre and commercial sectors. Job Description AFFCO Rangiuru, (based south of Te Puke, Bay of Plenty) is currently seeking a passionate Plant Engineering Manager to lead their Trades team and contractors over both shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plant maintenance, reliability, and asset management, familiarity with general services systems such as refrigeration, steam, water, and air, and excellent communication, planning, and leadership skills. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that plant assets are managed and maintained in a way that enhances the company’s short- and long-term objectives. This role is pivotal in the ongoing operation of the site and is a career opportunity not to be missed. Key attributes we will be looking for include: Ability to further develop the team culture that currently exists within the maintenance department. Maintaining a strong focus on cost and resource management and have the ability to prioritise expenditure decisions. Provide strong leadership to an existing, well-skilled trades team. Strong organisational skills which complement the need to manage a variety of priorities and demands. A commitment to upholding the company’s high standards of health and safety. Competent in building strong relationships across various disciplines. Able to demonstrate a high level of communication skills both oral and written. Knowledge of Health & Safety will be a big advantage along with permit to work, Induction, confined space and heights training. Experience with environmental compliance and council liaison is also advantageous. Qualifications The successful applicants will demonstrate the following: Holds an Engineering degree or other relevant tertiary qualification. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all key stakeholders including the Trades team, operations team and external consultants, contractors and suppliers on a regular basis. Exposure to Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Effluent and Wastewater Management, and Refrigeration Systems. Experience with Maintenance Planning Tools (e.g. CMMS systems like MEX, SAP PM). A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act 2015).
