Seasonal Sample Collector - Bay of Plenty
This is a great role for someone looking for seasonal work in the outdoor environment, with opportunities to get fit and travel around your local district! We are looking for Seasonal Sample Collectors to join our Team based around the Bay of Plenty (Tauranga, Te Puke, Opotiki) for the upcoming Kiwifruit season. Our branch operates 7 days a week, collecting and testing samples of kiwifruit from orchards to see if they meet the Zespri guidelines for export. We have two types of fixed-term sampler roles available: * Core Samplers - Potential to work up to 6 days per week (generally 10 - 30 hours/ week) * Part-Time Samplers - Potential to work up to 4 days per week (a ‘supplementary’ role, but availability across all 7 days of the week is preferred) No experience required - full training is provided. All samplers work on an “on-call” basis with a minimum 5 hours of guaranteed work every fortnight. THE ROLE This role is for a Fixed term period starting at the end of February ramping up in March and running through to May/ June. Duties will include driving to orchards and collecting kiwifruit samples (on foot) and then driving the collected samples to the nearest drop off point. * You will be working variable hours per week. * Work starts at daybreak (around 6am) and will generally be finished between midday and 2pm (earlier and later finishes are also possible, we are looking for someone who has the lifestyle and flexibility to manage this). * Samplers will be assigned their work for the following day between 5-9pm where ~45 mins of paid preparation work is to be undertaken for the next day. * Samplers may work alone or in pairs. This role will be ideal for someone looking to supplement their income that has the flexibility of hours required. This role will suit practical people who enjoy working outdoors. Industry experience is not mandatory. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Good map reading and navigation skills * Ability to work within set timeframes * Confident with technology * Flexible with hours and a good communicator who is happy to work unsupervised * Clean driving history, full Class 1 drivers licence Candidates are expected to have a good level of fitness, you will walk an average of 15km a day whilst collecting kiwifruit samples weighing up to 15kg from under pergola structures 1.7-1.8m tall.
