We are committed to attracting, developing, and retaining great people, and supporting them to be the best they can be. **Job Description** **The opportunity / He angitūtanga:** National Invasive Ant Surveillance (NIAS) Programme AsureQuality's Biosecurity team are looking for people in the Whangarei region to help deliver services that protect New Zealand against exotic pests and disease incursions. **Dates of work:** Starting 5th January 2026 (likely work for 2-3 months), with a one day training on 10 December 2025. **Pay:** $26.24 per hour + 8% holiday pay **Location:** Whangarei These **casual** roles will involve varying hours. This means the hours could be anything from 0 to 40 hours per week. Can only be worked during daylight hours, as these roles involve working outdoors. In this role you will… - Deliver biosecurity surveillance & response field services for the National Invasive Ant Surveillance programme (NIAS). - Work in a team of 2 to undertake site inspections, trapping/surveillance work, data recording and sample handling looking for exotic ants at high-risk sites such as seaports, airports & transitional facilities. - Potentially help out other Biosecurity teams with Fruit Fly Surveillance - Respect mātauranga (understanding) Māori and local tikanga (culture) and encourage their practice in our roles **About you / He kōrero mōu:** To be considered for this role you will… - Be physically fit and able to walk for long periods of time. - Able to commit to work hours at short notice (we often give 1-7 days notice for upcoming work hours, due to the nature of the work). - Good verbal & written communication skills. - Able to use phone apps and computer technology. - Respect for Te Reo me ona tikanga Maori and other cultures. - Can-do attitude and a great work ethic. - Previous experience in Biosecurity is highly desirable but not essential. - A full, clean New Zealand drivers licence is desired but not essential. Adventures on the sea We are looking for 3 seasonal workers to start in November, who can commit to a minimum of 3 months work on our Oyster Farms in Northland. Whangaroa is located in the beautiful Bay of Islands and is a stunning place to live and explore. We are offering 3 go getters, who are hardworking, physically fit and keen to learn the chance to work in Northland, spending most of your day out on the Whangaroa Harbour carrying out remediation work on our oysters’ farms. Our Opportunity: If you are looking for a fixed term, full time role over the summer that would allow you to work mainly outdoors, on the water, learning practical know how around oyster farming, this could be for you. No day is the same. You might find yourself fixing damaged oysters’ baskets on the water or removing shell waste to reduce the risk of predation or fixing and assembling baskets on shore, or general labouring work. As a team-based operations, you need to enjoy working with others, be able to take instructions and follow process, whilst supporting your colleagues and ensuring that every day you are keeping each other safe. Due to the nature of the business and changing tides and weather conditions you need to be adaptable and flexible when it comes to days and hours of work. Training is provided. What You Need: These are great jobs if you want to learn about aquaculture while earning over the summer break from university, or you may be living in Northland or even on a working holiday – we are open to considering applicants who can commit to the fixed term assignment and are available to work through Christmas and New Year. Debarker Operator

Employing over 1200 staff in 11 locations across New Zealand, C3 Limited is a market leader in New Zealand's port related product and cargo handling industry,adding value to our clients' businesses by providing solutions to their transport and business needs. C3 has a new Debarker operation on the port at Marsden Point. The Debarker is a large piece of machinery that receives logs at one end and strips the bark off the logs to then exit the logs at the other end of the plant. Located in a control room the operator will monitor the progress of logs through the Debarker and take action should there be any jams or equipment failure. The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes: * Experience in a forestry or sawmill environment would be desirable but not essential * Computer Literacy * Strong Health and Safety focus * Reliability and can work unsupervised * Good communication skills * Experience operating a log loader would be beneficial but not essential * Full Class1 licence preferred Permanent employment is offered with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Flexibility with hours is required as this is a seven day per week operation. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug& alcohol screen, as well as criminal records checks.
