The Iconic Duke of Marlborough Hotel located on the waterfront in Russell, Bay of Islands is looking for a dynamic, organised and personable wedding, event and function manager to join our passionate team. As our Wedding, Event & Function Manager, you’ll be the key point of contact for the sales, planning and implementation of weddings, events, and private functions held at The Duke in Russell and Charlotte’s Kitchen Restaurant in Paihia. Key Responsibilities • Manage all enquiries, site visits, quotes, and bookings for weddings, corporate events, and private functions at The Duke of Marlborough Hotel in Russell and Charlottes Kitchen in Paihia. • Collaborate with clients to plan and deliver events tailored to their needs and vision. • Work closely with the kitchen, front of house, and accommodation teams to coordinate event logistics and operations. • Prepare event orders, timelines, and floorplans. • Manage a team of staff for events on the day, ensuring exceptional service and guest satisfaction. • Build and maintain relationships with local vendors and suppliers. • Manage event budgets, including staff rostering, invoicing, and post-event reporting. • Work with owners to implement a clear sales and marketing strategy to maximise revenue for weddings, events and functions. • Represent The Duke & Charlottes Kitchen at sales meetings and exhibitions to promote the business • Continuously seek ways to improve our event offerings and guest experience. • Assist in the restaurant working alongside the Restaurant Manager on the floor when required over the peak times. • Assist with staff recruitment, training, supervising and rostering in the restaurant About You • Proven experience in event and function management — ideally within hospitality, weddings, or tourism. • Outstanding communication and organisational skills. • Calm under pressure with a sharp eye for detail. • A natural people person with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required. • Currents Managers licence or willingness to complete the licence in your role. • NZ residency or a valid work visa essential.
