General Manager

Company Overview: Private Investigations Northland is a team of six investigators operating across Northland and in Auckland. We provide investigative services to a wide range of criminal defence lawyers, workplaces and members of the public. We also carry out a wide range of process serving, surveillance and private and domestic investigations. We have a strong focus and commitment to providing our clients with the facts, results and answers they need, to help support them through what are often stressful and difficult situations. We have experienced strong year on year growth and are looking to continue this and develop further capacity to deliver credible, high-quality results for our clients. Role Summary: General Manager We are seeking a motivated, driven and experienced General Manager to lead Private Investigations Northland. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operational aspects, leading and overseeing all investigations, managing the team of investigators and ensuring the continued growth and success of our business. Key Responsibilities and Duties: * Manage all aspects of daily investigative operations from the inception of investigations to trial. * Lead and motivate a team of seven staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment, monitoring performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions. * Oversee recruitment, training and up-skilling with a strong focus on attention to detail and results. * Manage business operations including budgeting, expense management, and performance monitoring. * Developing and leading strategy, identifying opportunities for growth, managing people, establishing and monitoring policies, and ensuring operational excellence. * Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. * Monitor financial performance, identify areas for improvement and growth, and implement corrective actions where necessary. Required Qualifications: Experience: The successful candidate must have extensive investigative experience (current or former) within the Criminal Investigations Branch, ideally as a detective sergeant or higher. Education: Detective qualification is essential. Study and experience in business management will be a strong advantage. Leadership Skills: Must be a proven effective leader, with experience leading teams in high pressure environments, having strong interpersonal communication skills and be a clear and decisive decision maker. Industry Knowledge: Must have recent experience in criminal investigations and be familiar with all aspects of current criminal law, have investigative prowess and an approach that is evidence-led. Preferred Skills: Financial Acumen: Financial literacy with Xero accounting systems is important, along with a sound understanding of everyday financial management such as invoicing, budgeting, and financial analysis. Strategic Thinking: There is a need for strategic thinking and the ability to develop and implement effective strategies to achieve continued growth and improvement. Problem-Solving: A key strength is the ability to identify and solve complex and often challenging problems. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Clear and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders is vital and a key attribute for this leadership and management role.
