* Operate GPS trenching machinery for infrastructure projects * Read site plans and ensure trench accuracy * Full-time role with stable hours in the Hawke's Bay Position: GPS Trenching Machine Operator Location: Hastings, Hawke's Bay Type: Full-time/Permanent Pay Range: $30 to $38 per hour Days: Monday to Friday Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week with standard hours of 40 hours per week The Company: Join a long-standing, family-owned civil infrastructure company with deep roots in the Hawke's Bay area. With a solid pipeline of work and a team that values skill, reliability, and precision, they're looking for a capable GPS Trenching Machine Operator to contribute to their ongoing success. Key Responsibilities As a GPS Trenching Machine Operator, your main responsibilities will include: * Operating trenching machines with GPS systems to achieve accurate trench alignments and depths * Reading and working from detailed site plans, drawings, and specifications * Monitoring GPS technology to ensure trenching accuracy * Performing daily checks, preventative maintenance, and minor troubleshooting on machinery * Following health and safety protocols and environmental guidelines on all job sites * Working closely with surveyors, engineers, and project supervisors to meet project requirements * Maintaining clear and accurate documentation, including daily work logs and GPS data * Assisting in site setup, including clearing areas and marking out trench lines To be successful in this role, you will need: * At least three years of experience operating heavy machinery in a civil or infrastructure setting * Demonstrated experience using GPS-guided trenching equipment * Strong ability to interpret site plans and construction drawings * A proactive attitude toward safety and equipment care * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test * Must have a clean police record with no charges pending If you're a capable and detail-focused machine operator ready for your next challenge, we want to hear from you.
