Civil/Earthworks Allrounder
We are a small family business operating out of the Hawke's Bay and are looking for a reliable, honest, general allrounder who can operate machines (diggers and bobcats) as well as drive a 6 wheel tipper and truck and trailer. Our scope of work includes driveways, retaining walls, pool fit-outs, civil construction, transport and much more. Key Responsibilities: *Machine Operation: Operate excavators (and potentially other equipment like bulldozers) for digging foundations, trenches, grading land, and moving materials. *Site Preparation: Clear sites, move debris, and prepare areas for construction or landscaping. *Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections, perform minor repairs, lubricate, and keep the machine clean. *Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations, completing paperwork and reporting incidents. *Planning & Coordination: Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and GPS data; communicate with supervisors and other workers. *Material Handling: Load materials onto trucks or transport them to designated areas Essential Skills & Qualifications: *Experience: Proven experience operating excavators (specific tonnage varies by role). *Licenses: Valid driver's license (Class 4 minimum, higher classes preferred), relevant operator tickets. *Technical Skills: Ability to use GPS, read technical docs, and understand machine functions. *Soft Skills: Strong hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, teamwork, attention to detail, and communication. *Physical Fitness: Ability to get in/out of machinery and work outdoors in various conditions. *Flexibility: Available for some night shift and Saturday work if required. *Pay will be dependant on experience. *Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing *90 day trial period *Must be a New Zealand resident to apply.
