Our branch operates 7 days a week, collecting and testing samples of kiwifruit from orchards to see if they meet the Zespri guidelines for export. We have two types of fixed-term sampler roles available: * Core Samplers - Potential to work up to 6 days per week (generally 10 - 30 hours/ week) * Part-Time Samplers - Potential to work up to 4 days per week (a ‘supplementary’ role, but availability across all 7 days of the week is preferred) No experience required - full training is provided. All samplers work on an “on-call” basis with a minimum 5 hours of guaranteed work every fortnight. THE ROLE This role is for a Fixed term period starting at the end of February ramping up in March and running through to May/ June. Duties will include driving to orchards and collecting kiwifruit samples (on foot) and then driving the collected samples to the nearest drop off point. * You will be working variable hours per week. * Work starts at daybreak (around 6am) and will generally be finished between midday and 2pm (earlier and later finishes are also possible, we are looking for someone who has the lifestyle and flexibility to manage this). * Samplers will be assigned their work for the following day between 5-9pm where ~45 mins of paid preparation work is to be undertaken for the next day. * Samplers may work alone or in pairs. This role will be ideal for someone looking to supplement their income that has the flexibility of hours required. This role will suit practical people who enjoy working outdoors. Industry experience is not mandatory. You must have a good level of kiwifruit knowledge in order to be able to effectively support your team, identify areas of improvement during the tasks and carry out skilled work to improve the production of the vines. We are looking for an individual who is organised, punctual, enjoys physical work and motivated by achieving high standards within a team. There is minimal administrative tasks involved however you will need to effectively manage your time and that of your team and the resources they need, submit daily timesheets and contribute towards workflow organisation. You must be able to work well in a team, working alongside our other supervisors and bring a positive attitude to work. Pay and Work Benefits • Pay range is $30-$38 per hour depending on experience and skill set of the individual. • We only work Monday-Friday and take weekends off (except harvest where staff work to a roster). • Guaranteed hours contract; 60 hours per fortnight minimum. • Tools of the trade which includes but is not restricted to; equipment for kiwifruit work including Automatic Pruners and machinery access (with appropriate training), some uniform and uniform allowance. • Additional training such as machinery use, First Aid and in house specific skill development is offered. • Bonuses offered if quality and efficiency standards are met. • You will receive a paid day off on your birthday each year.
