Description

Not just rare for NZ, these 8 bit computers are hard to find worldwide, working and for sale. Released in 1982 and only available for about 1 year, there was very few sold compared to ZX Spectrums, Commodore 64 etc. Interesting note, the company collapsed after its founder absconded with money in a suitcase...how 1980s is that?! :) Tested & tagged for your electrical safety. Being over 40 years old it is not in perfect condition. Retail box is damaged but still holds the computer. The computer itself has the expected yellow plastic tinge and some dirt marks etc. Not all the time, but sometimes, it needs a gentle tap on the case to get the video output to work after it boots up. Getting a clear image on an old CRT monitor with a low refresh rate just wasn't working out so no images of this. This example has the upgraded Ram option (32KB instead of 16KB). Processor & Memory - CPU: Zilog Z80A microprocessor at 2.2 MHz. - ROM: 16 KB (contains Colour BASIC). - RAM: 32 KB Display - Text Mode: 40 characters by 24 lines, with 16 colors available in the upgraded ROM versions. - Output: RF and Composite Video, connectable to a standard color TV. Sound - Sound Chip: General Instruments AY-3-8910. - Capabilities: 3 sound channels and 1 noise channel. Keyboard: - Full-sized, 63-key typewriter-style keyboard with four programmable function keys. 100% Charity Auction All proceeds from this auction go the Nelson Environment Centre and Kai Rescue, to provide services to Nelson and Tasman communities. http://www.nec.org.nz/kai-rescue/ We recycle and refurbish electronic e-waste equipment and computers and our goal is to have nothing sent to landfill if there is a chance of finding it a new home.
