**Workshop Manager – Steel Fabrication**
**About the Role**
We are looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to take ownership of the delivery of fabrication projects within our workshop.
This role is not just supervision — it is about leading from the front. You will be on the tools, while also coordinating workflow, managing priorities, and ensuring projects coming from Project Managers are delivered efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard.
You will be responsible for turning issued drawings and job scopes into completed workshop outputs, ready for site installation.
The work consists of structural steel fabrication and high-quality architectural mild steel.

**Key Responsibilities**
* Take ownership of workshop delivery for all assigned projects
* Receive jobs from Project Managers and plan fabrication through to completion
* Allocate work and manage workflow across the workshop team
* Ensure all fabrication is completed to drawings, on time, and to a high standard
* Maintain strong communication with Project Managers around progress, issues, and timing
* Identify risks, clashes, or inefficiencies early and resolve them proactively
* Lead from the front by working on the tools where required
* Ensure efficient use of materials, labour, and workshop resources
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
* Oversee quality control and minimise rework
* Assist with ordering materials and coordinating with procurement where required

**About You**
* Strong background in steel fabrication (structural and/or architectural metalwork)
* Proven experience in a workshop leadership or leading hand role
* Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise work
* Able to read and interpret drawings accurately
* Practical mindset — focused on efficient, buildable solutions
* Strong communication skills — able to deal with PMs and workshop staff
* Takes ownership and accountability for outcomes
* Comfortable working on the tools while managing workflow
