You will be part of a team providing a safe environment where people can develop confidence and new skills, build friendships with peers, and interact with others in the community. Our teams are our greatest asset, and we are committed to employing and training the best people.
We are looking for a permanent, part-time Support Worker in Gisborne. This role is around seven hours a week on a set roster that will increase over time.
Shift times:
* Tuesday 1.30pm - 3.30pm
* Wednesday 10.00am - 1.00pm
* Sunday 1.00pm - 3.00pm
What does a Support Worker do? - He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko?
You will support people in their home and community to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives and achieve their personal dreams and goals by doing the things they want to do, such as going swimming, attending sporting events, arts and crafts, movies, or shopping - the list is endless. Support Workers are part of a team who work shifts or rosters providing 24/7 support, with the potential of additional sleepover payments included in some rosters.

* People who are passionate about helping others, are kind and understanding
* Good communication skills
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, including experience working with youth
* Full driver's licence and owning your own vehicle is essential
* A desire to support people to learn new skills and achieve outcomes
* Somebody who has the initiative to push people for their goals, is energetic, outgoing, and can think outside the box
* You need to be respectful of others' thinking and their way of living life, which may be different to your own
Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness are important in this role as the people we support come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and interests.
