Working together, we help build stronger connections for a better New Zealand.  He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role  As a Structures Inspector, you’ll play a key role in keeping our structures and civil infrastructure safe and compliant. You’ll inspect and audit KiwiRail’s bridges, culverts, tunnels, retaining walls and any other civil-related assets within the network, ensuring they meet the required standards and remain in good condition.  You’ll identify defects, recommend repairs, and help plan and monitor maintenance work – always with safety at the forefront. This is a hands-on role that combines technical know-how, field work, and collaboration with engineers, planners, and contractors.  Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring  We’re looking for someone who takes pride in quality work and has a strong focus on safety and teamwork. You’ll bring:  Practical experience working with timber, concrete, masonry, or steel structures  Practical experience in inspecting and maintaining civil-related assets.  Good understanding of construction health and safety processes  Sound knowledge of engineering codes and standards for structures and civil   Strong observation, reporting, and communication skills  Ability to work independently and make safe, informed decisions in the field  Computer literacy, including Word, Excel, and email systems  Secondary school qualification (NCEA Level 2 in Maths and English)  A current full driver’s licence (HT Class 2 desirable)  Trade or tertiary qualifications in carpentry, civil construction, or a related field are an advantage  Nōu te rourou | What’s in it for you  At KiwiRail, you’ll join a supportive team that values safety, skill, and personal growth.
