Opportunity to broaden skills in a growth-focused environment. About the Role B&M Electrical are seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. This is a full-time, salary-based role for either a qualified New Zealand electrician looking for and office-based position or an electrical professional with the full capability of pricing various sized projects. This person would need to thrive in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment, is detail-oriented, be forward thinking, embrace evolving technologies, and committed to delivering high-quality, accurate work with excellent customer service. You would work across primary commercial, and industrial projects, but will cover all project types as they arise with our senior estimator. Be skilled at interpreting technical drawings, specifications, design and build elements and estimating these works for Electrical, Solar, and HVAC systems. You would receive and understand tender documents, liaise directly with suppliers and clients, and ensure timely and accurate tender submissions. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently while alongside an accomplishes team, takes pride in their work, and always goes the extra mile for their team and our customer. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret engineered drawings, specifications, and BIMs (CAD experience beneficial but not necessary) • Provide design and build solutions • Estimate various electrical, solar and HVAC projects for various sectors (residential, commercial, industrial) • Prepare documentation for supplier/subcontractor pricing during the tender period • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive, real-world pricing • Assist Contracts/Estimating Manager in responding to RFPs • Prepare detailed work schedules, cost breakdowns, and project cash flows • Coordinate with team members and clients to ensure tender accuracy and completeness • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients, colleagues, and suppliers ________________________________________ Required Skills, Experience & Eligibility Requirements • Minimum 3+ years of electrical industry-based experience • Prior electrical estimating experience is beneficial • New Zealand registered electrician with current EWRB practicing license is an advantage (but not essential) • Hold a full NZ driver’s license with no restrictions • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) • Confident interpreting CAD drawings and technical documentation • Familiarity with tender processes and quoting • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills • Proven ability to work independently and unsupervised • High attention to detail with a practical, solutions-focused mindset • Must hold New Zealand residency or citizenship ________________________________________ What We’re Looking For • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to think on your feet with safety always in mind • Someone who is honest, reliable, and takes pride in their work • A natural problem-solver who goes the extra mile for customer satisfaction • A team player with strong interpersonal skills who thrives in a collaborative environment ________________________________________ What We Offer We value our team and believe in creating an environment where people are empowered, supported, and appreciated.
