Interested? Here's what the Coordinator role is all about: Our Coordination team operates a 24/7 support line for the kaimahi working directly with our whaiora across the North Island. We currently have three Coordinators who cover daytime, overnight on-call, and weekend on-call shifts. We are seeking 1–2 people to join us on a 4-month fixed-term casual contract, with the potential for opportunities beyond this period for the right fit. The Coordinator (or, as we fondly call them, the Roster Ninja) is responsible for short notice rostering and urgent coordination. Key points about the mahi: - The main goal? Making sure our young people have the right support, at the right time. - It’s a fast-paced role that needs quick thinking, adaptability, and calmness under pressure. - You work closely with our kaimahi on the floor and our wider office team, acting as the kaitiaki that keeps everything flowing. - Scheduling is like solving a puzzle: it’s about the right match, not just filling a spot. You’ll juggle rosters and make the jigsaw work for everyone, our team and our whaiora. - As the hub of urgent communication, your calm, clear thinking will set the tone for everyone. - You’ll nurture positive relationships with our referring partners. - You have a high attention to detail, can track patterns, spot gaps, flag concerns, and close tasks efficiently and on time. - You have confidence in using AI and tech - In this role, you’ll be part of a rotating roster that includes daytime shifts in our Palmerston North office, as well as overnight and weekend on-call hour. We’re screening for: - Full NZ driver’s licence - Relevant experience in coordination, people management, or the mental health/disability sector - Will require a police vetting and OT vetting check If you’re successful, you’ll likely be someone who: - Remains calm under pressure and able to think clearly on the fly - Strong problem-solver who sees steps ahead and adjusts as needed - Knows the importance of professional boundaries - Personable, warm, and confident communicating with people and over the phone - Brings fun and personality to their mahi - Emotionally intelligent with healthy boundaries, supports self and others - Tech-savvy: Outlook, calendar management, MS Office, databases, and digital systems - Organised and detail-focused: nothing slips through the cracks - Experienced in fast-paced care environments (mental health, disability, youth support, or similar) - Collaborative: comfortable asking for help and working with the team - Flexible: Must be available for rostered shifts plus on-call evenings and weekends.
