





18Jupiter is a state-of-the-art vessel of her time, built by Keith Atkinson in Browns Bay Auckland for Phil Yates. She was quite the sensation when launched and featured on the front page of Sea Spray magazine! Jupiter campaigned hard for many offshore events including 2 Sydney Hobarts, most of the Pacific Island races and a 2 handed Auckland to Fukuoka Japan. The list is huge, and more than a few participating yachtsmen and women have many an interesting story to tell about their adventures. When moored in various bays around NZ we would often get visits from these people to have a yarn and recall their memories including Phil Yates himself. A good passage maker and powerful up wind, Jupiter can rattle the gages of many a modern plastic craft. She’s now looking for a new custodian is sort to take her on new adventures and maintain her pedigree. Jupiter is constructed of 3 laminations of heart Kauri using resorcinol glue and heavily fastened including through the planking. She has mono Metal keel bolts and lead cast keel. - Ply decks and cabin tops fibre glassed. Solid teak coamings, Aluminium Mast, stainless rigging and Origin boom. - Beam 3.5m, Draft 2m, 11500Kg approx -Engine - 36 Hp Bukh reconditioned 2014 (1550Hrs) - SS tanks 120 Ltr Deisel, 360Ltr water & holding tank -Pressure water, 2 showers HWC off motor - Separate Fridge freezer compressor off motor -Radar, GPS, Chart plotter, VHF, new auto pilot - Furling Headsail (2016), slab reef main, staysail trysail, storm sail and 2 spinnakers Well maintained and ready to sail, now a comfortable cruiser with a few creature comforts included.
