Central Otago District Libraries are looking for a friendly, tech‑confident Library Assistant to join our Alexandra team. If you enjoy helping people, love learning, and want a role with real variety, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Assistant job description
You’ll be part of a welcoming, supportive team helping deliver a modern, customer‑focused library service.
In this role you will:
* Provide warm, helpful customer service
* Help customers with digital devices, WiFi, public computers and printing/scanning
* Support programmes and events (e.g. story times, school visits, digital literacy sessions)
* Being our regular Saturday library assistant
* Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10am to 2:00pm and Saturday 9:30am to 1:30pm
* Extra hours available through casual work
About you:
* Friendly, approachable and community‑minded
* Confident with technology and enjoys supporting others
* Organised, accurate and comfortable following procedures
* Able to use initiative and work both independently and in a team
* Enthusiastic about books, learning and helping people of all ages
* Library or customer service experience is an advantage, but not essential.
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
