Night Shift Supervisor

CARTERS Cambridge Manufacturing are seeking an experienced Night Shift Supervisor with sound manufacturing knowledge and understanding of the processes within a frame and truss manufacturing environment. About the role We are seeking a Night Shift Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead, supervise and coordinate a production team of manufacturing operators and carpenters, ensuring production targets are met; safety and quality is adhered to while training and developing your team. Working 5pm to 5am Monday to Thursday with Friday as required due to business demand. Key responsibilities of the role are as follows: * Lead a team of up to 40 team members ensuring products meet customer expectations and requirements * Manage your team of employees, temps and contractors to deliver performance expectations * Work cooperatively with the manufacturing leadership team to deliver quality product and service * Ensure appropriate training and development of staff * Ensure systems are in place to minimise waste * Ensure customer delivery dates are met * Ensure a culture of continuous improvement About you You will be highly motivated and have a passion for developing a high-performance culture to meet business objectives while possessing the following skills and experience: * Leadership role experience in a multi shift environment ideally Night Shift. * Strong technical and tactical experience and comprehensive understanding of team leadership within the building/frame and truss manufacturing environment * Strong problem-solving skills with regard to technical queries and the ability to confidently provide solutions or remedial actions for your team * Strong interpersonal skills * Confidence in computer controlled operating environment What we offer In return, we'll make sure you're looked after in a professional, positive, inclusive and supportive working environment that you can be proud of. As Operations Lead, you’ll drive our manufacturing, warehousing, and customer service functions. You’ll lead by example - rolling up your sleeves alongside the team to meet production targets and deliver a standout experience for our customers. You will have specific responsibility for the operation of the mixing room where our livestock marking crayon products are formulated ready for filling. Key Responsibilities • Leadership & Staff Management: Train, supervise, and develop staff, fostering a supportive and productive work environment • Hands-On Involvement: During crayon manufacture (3 to 6 weeks per year) you will operate the crayon mixing room ensuring batches are correctly mixed for filling the next day. This will require working in PPE with heavy lifting. • Lead by example and participate in daily operations, including customer services, manufacturing and other essential areas of the business • Operational Efficiency: Implement and refine processes to optimise production performance • Compliance: Ensure compliance with H&S and other relevant regulations • Continual Improvement: Identify areas for improvement using data and feedback. This is a hands-on role leading a crew of four glaziers, with a strong focus on frameless glass work.
