Enjoy problem-solving, client interaction, and seeing projects built As a Projects Engineer at JP Marshall Engineering you will be an important link between our customers, the design and quoting phase, procurement, budget and project management and the lifecycle of the project through to completion. JP Marshall Engineering is one of Waikato‘s largest and most experienced steel fabricators and general engineering service providers. We have been servicing the greater Waikato and beyond for more than 74 years, undertaking specialised engineering projects, general jobbing and contracting. We are looking for an additional Projects Engineer to join our team. * Variety and ownership – Manage diverse engineering and steel fabrication projects from first client visit through to final delivery * Established local business – Join one of Waikato’s most respected engineering firms with over 70 years of proven work and reputation * Hands-on and people-focused – Perfect for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with clients, and seeing projects built in the workshop * Support and growth – Training provided where needed, with opportunities to expand estimating and project management skills Your role will include: • Visiting our clients to assess the scope of their project and providing them with a detailed written quote or proposal for the work to be carried out. • Providing the workshop with detailed information about the project including the materials required, the expected fabrication timeframes and completion date, quality assurance information and any other important requests or additions from the client • Managing multiple jobs and projects of various size, timeframes and budgets. • Maintaining a positive relationship with the client and keeping them informed of progress • Ensuring that the pricing of the job is accurate and work done is timely and meets forecasts Our ideal candidate will have: • An experienced mechanical engineering background with relevant trade qualifications (Heavy Fabricator/Fitter/Welder/Boilermaker) • Good relationship management skills with a high client focus • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English • An ability to read technical plans, drawings and specifications • Experience in planning and managing projects • Good computer skills – CAD experience preferred • Knowledge and understanding of all legislative and compliance requirements would be an advantage • Previous experience estimating jobs would be an advantage, although not essential, as training can be provided A competitive salary will be provided based on experience and qualifications.
