We are one of Rotorua’s most respected heavy engineering powerhouses. We build the giants—the skeletal structures, the log-handling systems, and the industrial machinery that keeps New Zealand moving. But before these machines head out into the elements, they need a defense. They need you. We are looking for a skilled Industrial Sandblaster / Spray Painter to take ownership of our finishing department. This isn't about painting fences; this is about applying high-spec industrial coatings to massive steel fabrications. The Mission: Prepare. Protect. Perfect.You are the final line of defense. You ensure that our engineering masterpieces can withstand the toughest environments in the timber and marine industries. - Surface Prep: You’ll be a master of the blast booth, using industrial sandblasting equipment to strip steel back and create the perfect profile for coating. - The Finish: Applying high-quality industrial primers and protective coatings (including epoxy and polyurethane systems) using airless or conventional spray setups. - Quality Control: You’ll ensure consistent DFT (Dry Film Thickness) and a flawless finish that meets strict industrial standards. - The Big Stuff: You’ll be working on large-scale structural steel—think massive beams, portals, and heavy equipment. What’s in Your Toolkit? - The Experience: You have a background in industrial spray painting or sandblasting, preferably within a heavy engineering or marine environment. - The Eye: You have a meticulous eye for detail. You catch the runs, the missed spots, and the imperfections before they leave the shop. - The Grit: You aren't afraid of a bit of dust and hard work. You’re physically fit, comfortable in PPE/respirators, and ready to get stuck in. - The Attitude: You take pride in your craft. You understand that the 'look' of the final product reflects the quality of the entire build.
