Category Head for one of our Key Pillars Hunting, Fishing and Outdoors Permanent – Full Time The Category Head will be responsible to lead and manage the allocated department growing the capability of the team, growing sales and profitability, and continuously improving the customer experience. The Category Head is responsible for sales, ranging, marketing, promotion and pricing for all products across the specified Category and retail areas. In this role you will be dealing with a broad range of suppliers and products. From small start-up, International Brands, importers, established multinationals and NZ operators. Reporting to the General Manager and Team Leader you will interact with all facets of ranging, pricing, buying and promoting these products to ensure Hunting and Fishing Gisborne stays front of mind and ahead of the trends. Knowing what all Outdoor enthusiasts want and need daily and ensuring it is available in store at the right price is key. The ability to quickly and professionally deal with incoming requests and queries from customers, suppliers and the store teams is essential. Due to One of our Category Heads leaving, an opportunity has become available for an experienced, highly motivated and passionate leader to join our wonderful local team in Gisborne. This is a busy hands-on role working in the business to drive towards our sales targets, maintain and enhance store standards as well as being actively involved with the products we sell. This role will also form part of the operational duty managers roster which includes working one day at the weekend on a permanent basis. Candidates for this role would be expected to have extensive sales and people leadership, ideally in big box retail or grocery; and would have been a department/assistant manager previously. Having your Firearms licence is a requirement. If you do not have this but can demonstrate exceptional talent in other aspects of retail or in Fishing, Outdoor then this will also be considered You will need to possess the following skills: • Previous experience in a leadership role. • Demonstrated ability and experience to lead and inspire a team. • Be a people centric leader. • Exceptional communicator. • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical and Merchandising Skills.
