We’re on the lookout for an experienced Machinery Operator who’s confident with cutting-edge ag-tech and ready to get stuck in. You’ll be operating some of the most advanced equipment in the industry — including our precision harvester and Carbon Robotics laser weeder — while working with a skilled, productive crew. This is a hands-on role for someone who leads by doing. WHAT YOU'LL BRING We’re after someone who’s sharp, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll need: * A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating farm machinery * A proactive mindset and strong communication skills * The ability to work independently and support others * A focus on safety and continuous improvement * A full NZ driver licence (Class 1) and F endorsement It’s a Bonus If You Have: * Confidence using GPS and digital platforms * Mechanical know-how for basic maintenance * Leadership experience * A background in farming or large-equipment operation THE DETAILS * Full-time, permanent role based in Gisborne * Pre-employment drug testing required * Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and provide references Ready to take the wheel of something bigger? About the role: We're looking for a driven and dependable Leading Hand to join our Gisborne Apples team. As a Leading Hand you'll be responsible for all aspects of in-field operations, including pest and disease, staff supervision, record keeping, and machinery tasks. You will have the opportunity to train staff on seasonal tasks, onboard new teams and assist with the general running of teams as guided by orchard management. Key Responsibilities: • Operate and maintain the Laser Weeder. • Monitor machine performance and field results, making adjustments as needed. • Carry out regular checks and basic servicing. • Work closely with the growing team to support crop health and weed control. • Keep accurate operational records. • Follow safety procedures and company protocols.
