We're opening a brand-new Mitre 10 MEGA in Prestons, Christchurch, and we're looking for an experienced People & Capability Manager to lead our people strategy and help build a high-performing, customer-focused team of around 80 team members. This is a key leadership role in our senior management team, with direct responsibility for the Customer Service and Checkout departments. What you'll be doing: * Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and induction of approximately 80 new team members. * Design and implement a comprehensive training and development programme to support team success from day one. * Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to direct reports in Customer Service and Checkout. * Drive a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture across the store. * Manage core HR functions including performance management, employee relations, and compliance. * Partner with the Store Manager and senior team to deliver on strategic people initiatives. What you'll bring: * Proven experience in a senior HR, People & Capability, or similar leadership role. * Strong background in recruitment, training, and team development. * Comprehensive understanding of NZ employment law * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence and inspire. * Experience in retail or a fast-paced customer service environment is a plus.
