Established in 2018, Summit Contracting Limited is made up of a team of experienced staff who are passionate about biosecurity and conservation in New Zealand. We are looking to expand this team and are seeking individuals who are keen to have a career in the great outdoors. Based in Alexandra, Summit Contracting Limited offers a variety of Pest Control and Conservation services from small scale possum ground control to large scale vector control and survey, ungulate control and complete eradication. Though based in Alexandra, our work is in various areas in the lower South Island so there is no requirement for successful candidates to live in Alexandra. Most contracts require staff to 'stay away' for 10 days with 4 days off. Accommodation will be provided while you are away for work. A successful Pest Operative will possess the following skills and attributes: * Hard working, determined, honest and reliable * An above average level of fitness * Outdoors enthusiast from an agricultural and/or hunting background * The ability to communicate with a diverse range of people * Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude * A strong commitment to health and safety * Thrive in a hardworking positive team environment * The ability to stay away from home Ideally, the successful applicant will have some experience and have the following qualifications, however, there will be opportunities for attaining necessary qualifications as an employee: * Current Controlled Substance License * Comprehensive First Aid * NZ Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3) * 4WD Driver Training Qualification * Unit Standards in Quad, LUV, Two Wheel Motorcycles * Unit Standards in GPS and Outdoor Navigation * Unit Standards in Chainsaw Operation * New Zealand Firearms License * New Zealand Drivers License This is a physically demanding role working in the great outdoors with all of its conditions and weather etc. We are looking for passionate outdoors people who are willing to learn practical skills in a very rewarding job. Your responsibilities will include trapping, baiting, surveying, and monitoring pest animals like possums, rabbits, and ferrets, as well as managing pest plants such as gorse, broom, and wilding pines. While your home base will be in **Cromwell,** your work will take you to various locations, with accommodation provided unless you're operating directly from the depot. **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** We're looking for a self-motivated, fit and energetic individual who can thrive both independently and as part of a small team. Safety and risk management are top priorities, so you'll need to maintain a strong focus on these while working in the field for extended periods. Proficiency in using GPS and handheld recording devices is essential, along with the ability to keep accurate records. As work is often undertaken on working farmland it is essential to understand animal behaviours through leisure activities or from working in a rural environment. We’re looking for a skilled Vineyard Operator to join the team at our Central Otago vineyards. This opportunity will allow you to be part of a sophisticated brand and work outdoors in a friendly work environment. As part of the team, you’ll develop your skills further with good training and task diversity and uphold our culture of quality and safety. As a Vineyard Operator, you are in a key role responsible for implementing day-to-day vineyard activities, including both machinery and “hands-on” viticulture operations. You will work under the direction of the Vineyard Manager (VM) and will be supervised on a daily basis by the Assistant Vineyard Manager (AVM). You will interact with a wide range of people, and maintaining good working relationships and lines of communication with staff in other parts of the company and visitors is critical.
