In this role, you will ultimately be responsible for effectively managing the safety, quality, efficiency and financial success of the Canterbury Laboratory Department. **In addition to the above you will:** * Plan and organise all laboratory activities and workflow, from sampling, analysis and the review of results signoff. * Provide leadership, support and direction to laboratory staff, while fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment. * Drive quality and efficiency through training and mentoring of laboratory staff. * Oversee and prepare the laboratory for IANZ Audits to ensure compliance with ISO 17025. * Manage financial performance, ensuring optimisation of financial outcomes. * Effectively manage client relationships ensuring continued success, both internally and externally. **To be successful in this role, you will have:** * A relevant trade qualification in materials testing or similar. * Proven experience managing a laboratory, ensuring high-quality outcomes and efficient use of resources. * Extensive knowledge of asphalt production principals and practical applications (mix designs). * A competent understanding of material properties. * Strong financial and business acumen. * Experience managing and developing teams of significant size to ensure continued success and growth opportunities. * The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work. * Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong focus on people, safety and quality. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with varying levels of stakeholders. * Problem solving abilities.
