Site Supervisor & Civil Projects Lead
Site Supervisor & Civil Projects Lead Up to $45/hr + Vehicle + Gear + Career Growth | Whanganui / Rangitīkei You’re good at what you do — maybe too good to still be under someone who doesn’t see it. At Grounded Company, we notice. We back our people, pay them right, and give them room to lead. You turn up every day, run solid jobs, and take pride in doing things properly — even when no one’s watching. You’ve got the respect of your crew, you keep clients happy, and you make the tough calls when things go sideways. But maybe it feels like no matter how much you give, it’s still just a job to your boss. It doesn’t have to be like that. We’ve been there too — and that’s exactly why Grounded Company was built: a place where good operators are backed, not bossed. Who We Are – Grounded Company We’re a civil construction and drainage team based in Whanganui. We build infrastructure and people — Whakatipu Hanganga, Whakatipu Tangata. Our kaupapa is whānau. We look after our people, train and grow our crew, and take pride in the work we deliver for marae, schools, councils, and developers. We’re serious about quality, safety, and good systems — but we keep things real with plenty of laughs and respect on site. The Role You’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of earthworks, drainage, foundations, and concrete projects — hands-on, with your crew beside you. Key responsibilities include: * Running medium to large civil sites from start to finish * Operating excavators and civil plant confidently for trenching, stockpiling, subgrade excavation, and loading * Reading and interpreting plans, levels, and specifications * Coordinating materials, subcontractors, and inspections * Ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standard * Maintaining accurate daily site records — timesheets, deliveries, and H&S checks * Enforcing Health & Safety compliance and leading by example * Mentoring apprentices and less-experienced crew members * Running regular coaching sessions with your team * Communicating clearly with clients, office staff, and project managers * Keeping sites clean, safe, and professionally presented Hours: Full-time (40–50 per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays) What You’ll Get * Up to $45/hr depending on experience * Company ute + phone allowance * Boots, PPE & wet-weather gear provided * Career development: NZQA Level 4/5 Civil quals + leadership training * Pathway to Project or Operations Management * Strong crew culture: good banter, good people, quality work * Meaningful projects: marae, schools, subdivisions, council infrastructure What We’re Looking For * Proven experience leading civil crews or ready to step up from Leading Hand * Skilled operator who takes pride in safe, tidy work and good results * Strong communication and leadership skills * Confident with plans, levels, and site coordination * Reliable, respectful, and a team player with a sense of humour Why Join Grounded Company? We’re not a big corporate. We’re a tight, values-driven crew who want our people to succeed — in work and in life. We believe in backing good people, offering growth, and celebrating wins together. Apply Now Send your CV and a quick blurb about yourself to: carol@groundedhq.co.nz www.groundedhq.co.nz * Referral bonus: If you know someone perfect for this role — or if you’re that person — there’s $3,000 each waiting when they come onboard. That’s $3K for the referrer and $3K for the new employee (after 3 months – no muppets). Grounded Company – Building Infrastructure, Growing People.
