Support Council’s Building Consent Authority (BCA) accreditation Central Otago is experiencing strong growth and development, and we are looking for a motivated Building Control Officer – Inspector to join our Regulatory Services team. This is an opportunity to work in a progressive council environment where your technical expertise will contribute directly to safe, compliant and high‑quality building outcomes across the district. Working under the technical direction of the Senior Building Control Officer and closely with the Team Leader Building Control, you will contribute to delivering consistent, technically robust and defensible regulatory decisions while supporting the Council’s Building Consent Authority (BCA) accreditation. Key Responsibilities: * Undertake building inspections to verify compliance with approved building consents and the Building Code. * Assess applications for Code Compliance Certificates (CCC). * Located in either Cromwell or Alexandra  * Identify and respond to non‑compliant building work in accordance with legislative requirements. * Provide professional regulatory guidance to builders, designers and the public. * Maintain clear and accurate regulatory records within Council systems. * Contribute to maintaining Council’s BCA accreditation and quality assurance systems About you:  * A recognised qualification in the building industry meeting Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006. * Experience in building control or building inspections. * Demonstrated competency in Residential 1–2 building inspections and Code Compliance Certificate assessments. * Sound knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and the New Zealand Building Code. * Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. * The ability to work collaboratively within a regulatory environment.
