Description

We are seeking an experienced National Fleet Workshop Manager to join our busy arborist workshop team based in Otahuhu and supporting operations across New Zealand. This role manages national workshop operations, plant, and personnel to ensure fleet availability, compliance, and continuity of operations. About the role: You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an efficient and effective service. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starting, organized, commercially minded and hands-on Workshop Manager to join a collaborative and supportive team to help drive business performance. Key responsibilities: * Oversite of multiple workshop locations, ensuring processes are in place for checking all work performed for completeness and compliance. * Manage workshop staff including technicians and fabricators. * Management of best practice procedures to ensure the needs of the Business is met with regards to scheduled servicing, unplanned and programmed maintenance and repair work. * Development of scheduled maintenance strategies to ensure work efficiency and enable utilization of equipment with minimal downtime. * Oversee the procurement and management of spare parts and consumables. * Ensure budget management in coordination with the Fleet Manager. * Provide weekly updates to the Fleet Manager regarding the operations of fleet and workshop activities. * Coordinate fleet scheduling and movements, and the management of light vehicle logistics to support breakdowns and vehicles out of service. * Assist and perform fleet valuations and assessments in coordination with the Fleet Manager. Skills and Experience: * A tertiary or post graduate qualification(s), ideally with previous experience in a similar role. * Minimum of 10 years’ mechanical/workshop experience. * Sound knowledge of the overall technical and practical requirements of the company. * A working knowledge of the New Zealand regulatory requirements and administrative frameworks and experience in dealing with regulators relating to managing health and safety. * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a workshop management role. * Proven experience in leading new initiatives and projects. * Experience in managing a workshop management system * Experience in issues management and risk mitigation * Excellent computer literacy and sound report writing.
