Victorian puti puti pounamu gold cased seal

Rare and highly collectable Victorian Pounamu seal. During the gold rush in Dunedin during the 1860's miners would also find stunning pieces of greenstone as they panned for gold in the clutha river. This was made into fob chains, fobs, cufflinks and brooches. This is the only seal I have seen with Pounamu and is an exciting find. It is gold cased and there are some signs of wear. I have added a brand new solid 9ct gold large O ring This piece was sourced from an estate auction. The pounamu is puti puti (flower jade) which is found in Greymouth on the west coast . I have paired this with a 45cm gold dipped chain and it will come in a gold lined leather box with white velvet. The pounamu is uncarved and was most likely worn as a necklace or as part of a chatelaine. This may also have been used as part of a female albertina.
