Job Title: Electronic Leak Detection Technician International Leak Detection (ILD) is at the forefront of waterproofing quality assurance in New Zealand. Since 2009 thousands of tests completed on membrane roofs, podiums, and basements across the country, we use Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM®) to identify and pinpoint breaches in waterproofing membranes. We’ve learned that the best time to test membranes is immediately after the construction phase has introduced potential damage. By locating and repairing these breaches, construction can continue confidently — whether that’s laying tiles on a balcony, installing decking, landscaping a green roof, or signing off a rugby-field-sized logistics hub roof. EFVM® testing is also an integral part of insulated warm-roof systems, now widely specified across New Zealand. The method works by establishing an electric field on the membrane surface and triangulating the path of electrical current with an ammeter, allowing us to pinpoint breaches invisible to the naked eye. What a Single Test Involves An ILD technician may be called to a balcony, residential roof, or a commercial high-rise tower roof. The process of a single EFVM® test typically looks like this: Preparation: Ensure the membrane surface is clear of debris so testing can be done directly on the bare membrane. Setup: Lay a perimeter test wire around the membrane area. Wet the surface of the membrane to create an electric field. Testing: Using the ILD ammeter, move across the wet surface, taking readings of the electrical vectors and triangulating the exact location of any breaches. Marking & Reporting: Mark breaches directly on the membrane, then pack down the test setup. Create a detailed report showing the tested area, breaches found, and any areas of concern such as membrane terminations, flashings, or general watertightness issues. Follow-up: Reports are provided to the client — whether it’s a homeowner, waterproofer, builder, or main contractor — so repairs can be completed and the system can be signed off. You’ll work on diverse projects — apartment balconies to commercial rooftops — and play a critical role in ensuring buildings across New Zealand are watertight. We are accepting interest from Mechanics and/or technicians with a current WOF authority for which we provide wide-ranging work available. You will need to be reliable, have an outgoing personality, be keen to learn new things, be able to see a job through to completion and work well in a tight-knit team. You'll be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week on weekdays between 8:00am-4.30pm, additionally Saturday work hours are 8:00am-2:00pm and paid at time and a half. Saturdays are rostered 1 on 1 off. Main responsibilities are; • Able to carry out automotive servicing, Warrant of fitness's, general maintenance, and automotive repair work on all types of passenger and light commercial vehicles. • Able to perform diagnosis of vehicle faults using suitable and appropriate equipment to determine the nature and required repair work to remedy the faults. • Able to communicate clearly with customers to simply inform of issues with vehicle, what parts and or work is required, advise of pricing and timeframe and any other matters. • Able to carry out and perform set work within industry, generally accepted and agreed timeframes. • Maintain a high-quality level of work standard with minimal faults.
