About Black Maire Black Maire is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated heritage hardwoods: • Extremely hard & dense (~1,200 kg/m³) • Rich chocolate-brown colour with interlocked decorative grain • Naturally durable — traditionally used by Maori for tools, weapons, and carving • Ideal for precision joinery, turning blanks, tool handles, luxury furniture & artisan work This species is now very scarce, especially in long, clean, seasoned dimensions like these.
