Martin Hydraulics Ashburton is experiencing strong growth, and we are seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our team as a Hydraulic Technician.
If you come from a mechanical, automotive, heavy diesel, or industrial trade background, this is an exciting opportunity to specialise in hydraulics and build your career in a high-demand field. No prior hydraulic experience? No problem. We provide comprehensive, hands-on training to support your transition into hydraulics.

About the role
-Service and repair mobile and industrial hydraulic systems across the Mid-Canterbury region.
-Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of equipment and machinery.
-Learn to repair and maintain hydraulic components, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.
-Carry out fault-finding, troubleshooting, and system testing with ongoing training and support.
-Work on a variety of challenging projects with opportunities for overtime.
What we’re looking for
-A trade qualification in a related field (Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Industrial Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or similar).
-Strong mechanical aptitude with solid diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
-A willingness to learn and develop specialist hydraulic knowledge.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Excellent time management and a proactive work ethic.
-A full NZ driver’s licence.
-NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
