This is a critical role within a large national 3PL business, where you will oversee all branch operations, staff management, and customer engagement while playing a key role in business development. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to enhance operational performance within a successful team. This role is based in Ashburton and you will be reporting to the Operations Manager. You will be responsible for initiating and executing a Continuous Improvement program, with a strong focus on Safety, Quality and Cost. You will work closely with many members of the team including the Site Manager, Operations Manager, Planning Team and Administration team, as well as others. You must have strong proven knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing and be a key advocate for all things Health and Safety in production. We are looking for somebody who has proven experience in leading a team in a manufacturing environment. As this is a critical role within the business, we are looking for somebody to join us on a long-term basis who wants to really integrate into the team. Your duties will include: * Improving processes and efficiency within the business * Analyse all criteria and data and be able to identify opportunities for improvement * Optimise the utilisation of process control systems * Have a strong presence and lead the New Product Development initiatives * Improve quality, safety and productivity and increase margins * Conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of losses or issues and present suggestions for improvement * Leading the team and inspiring their motivation and attitude * Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed and investigate any incidents * Ensuring a wide range of lean manufacturing approaches are implemented * Coaching and developing the team members Role Requirements * It is essential that you come from a strong Continuous Improvement background (minimum 3 years) within manufacturing environment * A firm understanding of Lean/5S * Industrial Engineering qualification or comparable * Knowledge of food safety practices (HACCP and GMP) would be advantageous * Proven abilities with project management * Demonstrated strong leadership skills * Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures About the Company We are a leading international food production company specialising in vegetables.
