The Yard Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of containers and maintaining efficient operations. Now, we’re looking for a dedicated Yard Operator to join our team. Responsibilities: • Equipment Mastery: o Operate Combi Lift Straddle Carrier and empty container handling forklift with precision. o Safely load and unload containers from trucks o Maneuver equipment efficiently within the yard stacking and de-stacking containers. • Safety First: o Conduct pre-operational checks on machinery. o Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE. o Report any equipment issues promptly. • Effective Communication: o Coordinate and communicate with dispatch, truck drivers, and our warehouse staff to deliver containers to their destination in a timely manner. • Organization and Efficiency: o Optimize yard space for maximum utilization. o Prioritize tasks based on operational needs. o Maintain accurate records of container movements. • Problem-Solving: o Address operational challenges promptly. o Troubleshoot equipment issues. • Compliance: o Follow company policies and New Zealand transport regulations. Qualifications: • Minimum of a Class 2 New Zealand driver’s license. • Experience operating heavy machinery in a container yard is an advantage but not necessary as training will be provided. • Attention to detail and situational awareness. • Strong communication skills. • Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and a medical Location: Icon Logistics Ltd 95 Parry Street container hub.
