Position: Chemical Mixing/Batching Supervisor Location: Masterton, Wairarapa Type: Full-time/Permanent Pay Range: $29 to $35 per hour Days: Monday to Friday Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week (standard 45 hours) The Company: Our client is a well-established New Zealand-owned manufacturer producing high-quality commercial and industrial cleaning products for nationwide customers. Their product range is used in restaurants, aged care facilities, and other commercial settings. They are seeking an experienced Chemical Mixing/Batching Supervisor to lead a small production team, ensuring every batch meets strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities As a Chemical Mixing/Batching Supervisor, your main responsibilities will include overseeing the production team, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, and managing the batching process from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Lead the production team - Supervise and work alongside two factory hands in daily operations. * Champion safety - Enforce strict safety procedures, including handling hazardous materials and PPE use. * Oversee batching - Weigh raw materials, set up equipment, and follow precise formulas to produce consistent batches. * Maintain quality - Conduct in-process quality checks (pH levels, viscosity, clarity, stability) and work with QA. * Troubleshoot issues - Identify and resolve production problems; mechanical aptitude an advantage. * Train and mentor staff - Coach new and existing team members in safety, processes, and quality control. * Maintain accurate records - Keep detailed logs and ensure the work area remains clean and organised. To be successful in this role, you will need: * Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in a chemical production or manufacturing environment. * Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role (preferred). * Chemistry degree or equivalent qualification (preferred). * Strong knowledge of chemicals used in cleaning product manufacturing (solvents, surfactants, etc.). * Familiarity with mixing/blending, reactors, homogenizers, heating/cooling units, bottling, capping, packaging, and labelling machines. * Forklift licence (or ability to obtain). * Physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg. * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. * Must have a clean police record with no charges pending.
