A bit about the role… We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic candidate to join our Point of Sale Team in at Mitre 10  MEGA Petone. We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic candidate who understands the importance of providing outstanding customer service to our trade and DIY customers.  The Point of Sale team deliver the first and last impression of our business and the person we seek for this position must have a high level of integrity, the ability to remain cool under pressure and be able to think on their feet. Previous cash handling experience and customer service experience are a must, while knowledge of timber and building products will be a strong advantage. To be successful you must have:  * A passion for providing excellent customer service  * Previous customer service experience is preferrable * The ability to build great relationships with our regular customers  * Excellent numeracy and literacy skills  * Previous cash handling experience  * High level of accuracy and attention to detail  * Confidence in making decisions as required  * Confidence using a computer  * An outgoing personality with a positive and friendly manner We are looking for a Full Time Team Member to fill our Sunday - Thursday roster. We are currently seeking a capable, service-oriented person for a full-time position in our factory shop based in Vagues Road, Papanui. Hours of work for this position will be 40 per week, to be worked across five days of the week on a rostered basis, between the hours of 8.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday (inclusive). We are looking for a person with an established work history in customer service or retail environments who is capable of assuming responsibilities including daily opening and closing of the store. Providing excellent service to our customers is the primary purpose of this role, which encompasses the following: * Maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our customers * Weighing, pricing and display of products * Managing the cash register including cash reconciliation and preparing daily banking and sales reports * Stock control, including correct rotation of chilled product and ordering of stock * Assisting the supervisor with staff management and daily operation of the shop * Unlocking the shop and preparing for the day’s trading and locking up and securing the shop at the close of day * Completing order and data entry tasks To be suitable for this position, you must: * Possess a friendly, confident and professional disposition, both in person and over the phone * Be able to complete basic mathematical calculations e.g. gross margins * Be computer literate (a familiarity with Microsoft Excel would be an advantage though not essential) * Be used to working without direct supervision * Have a reasonable level of physical fitness, with the ability to lift up to fifteen kilograms * Have great communication skills * Be prepared to ‘step up’ and assume additional responsibility as required * Full training will be given, though previous experience in a retail or customer service role is preferred.
